  • Event Overview
  • Date of Event September 21, 2006
Noise Pop presented the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)'s annual College Night on September 21, 2006. Admission was free for all Bay Area college students, faculty, and staff with valid ID. Starting at 6:30 pm, the event featured a lecture by San Francisco artist Rex Ray, an accomplished and award-winning graphic artist who has produced designs for books, magazines, rock posters, and compact disk covers, including recent projects for Steven Spielberg and David Bowie.

The reception, curated by NPI, began at 7 pm, and featured two DJ sets by Jimmy Tamborello (from The Postal Service, dntel, and James Figurine). The event also featured a live performance by San Francisco's own Paradise Boys.

  • Challenges
  • Noise Pop was hired to book the talent and coordinate on the marketing campaign for this annual event, which while moderately successful in the past, was not attracting as many students as the museum hoped.

  • Tactics
    • NPI booked a nationally known DJ and local musical performers that would be unique, lively and exemplify the music meets art theme of the event

    • Proposed hiring Jason Munn (Small Stakes) to design the College Night event poster, which was tastefully executed.

    • Oversaw the local promotions campaign and managed a local street distribution of promotional materials.

    • Provided on-site production and event management including artist hospitality.

  • Results
  • College Night was a tremendous success with over 1,000 students in attendance, a vast increase over the previous year’s attendance.
